PTSD can be termed as an aftereffect of a traumatised incident. An incident can be anything like a natural disaster, loss of dear ones, assault, or anything. You have faced that incident in the past, but your mind remembers it. You get flashbacks of those incidents. Those flashbacks cause harm to your present and your mind.
