Everyone is calling themselves modern, but somewhere they consider mental health a taboo. Let’s see what actually it is and try to remove the thought of taboo.
As we understand, people are more open to new things, but somewhere they find talking about mental health taboo. If the world is progressing, then why do people still find it taboo? This causes people with mental health problems to feel disheartened.
The world is growing and finding new technologies so you can live in a safe and healthy environment. But what happens when someone says – I have anxiety, depression, or any other mental health problem? We all know the answer, people will never listen to that person or maybe tell them to talk in a lower voice, right? It is not about everyone, but the majority will do the same and won’t consider talking about it. They find mental health a social taboo. And if people can’t talk about their problems in public, how can it be a safe and healthy environment?
Everyone is discussing that they have back pain, headaches, heart problems, etc. But why does no one discuss that they have anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, or something else? Because when people say this to others, they get treated differently. Their problems or their suffering are not easily heard. People treat this topic as a social taboo and jump to the next topic. This is not a social taboo; it is more like any other health issue. It is not a bad thing if someone has PTSD or anxiety. It is as normal as having diabetes or something else. And the world must start completely accepting mental health problems and those suffering. When everyone accepts this, we can say yes, the world is moving forward.
Also, have you wondered how it affects people who are going through these problems? It destroys their happiness and well-being. They might get into more and more problems. Try to hear what they are feeling or going through. You can help just by listening to them. It makes them feel lighter when they know someone understands their situation.
Make this world a better place for everyone, not just by using technology or gadgets. Create a safe environment where everyone can share their problems without fear. Change can start on your doorstep, so try to make a change in the world.
